Local Bethel Citizen columnists received some very sad news from the lead editor of the Western Maine weekly papers this week: Our columns in the next print edition of the paper, which will be out on Dec.
Follow your compass πand I am so grateful you are endeavoring to keep this wonderful tradition alive. Wishing you a very merry Christmas πβοΈβοΈ
This makes me so *#β¬@* mad and is such a stupid thing to do. These columns have always been the main reason I get the paper and I will no longer subscribe to it. And yes, to a sub stack for Western ME news. Great idea which I will gladly support.
Fantastic idea to continue the columns on Substack! Can't believe the business managers not understanding how important those local columns are and what eliminating them is going to do to their readership levels!
Sorry about the Bethel Citizen closures. That is sad. I love your idea about starting WMNN, great idea! Missing Bethel festivities and wonderful friends up there. Enjoy the holiday!
Good for you!

Sad news regarding the local columns. I will continue to read your columns on Substack.
I agree. The local columns are the heart and soul Citizen. Hope they continue in one form or another (Substack!)

And the logo is great!
