I never met Eli, but I can be sure that he was an amazing dog. I know this particular brand of grief, and I know how hard it is. Still, it is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all.
This is a wonderful tribute to Eli. Thank you, Amy and Will and your entire family, for letting the rest of us love and enjoy Eli for the last nine years.
Thank you for sharing this lovely post. I can tell Eli was very loved. I’m so sorry for your loss. I too have a Golden named Abby who is nine. For the first five years she was “Marley”, but she is a sweet girl now. Though she can still try to dig a hole to China!

So sad, Amy. Eli was a part of all of our families through your writing.
